How to Make a Seashell Picture Frame

July 17, 2014 By: mybigfathappylife

How to Make a Seashell Picture Frame | mybigfathappylife.com

Several years ago I had made a seashell picture frame, but after going through a number of moves the shells were no longer connect to the picture frame.  I had placed the frame and shells in a drawer in my craft room, so that one day I would fix the frame.  A couple months ago, S found the picture frame and shells in the drawer and asked me what they were for, followed by can I make one!

I found an old picture frame that was scratched up and a hot glue gun.  S went and got her jar of shells from our trip to Pensacola Beach last fall.

S dug through her jar of shells and handed me the ones she wanted to add to the picture frame.  I hot glued the shells to the frame starting with the larger shells and filling in empty spaces with the smaller shells.  We kept building the shells around the outside edge.  We added an extra special shell to the top middle of the frame for fun.

Once we had covered the frame in shells, S asked for a photo to be added, however she did not want one from the Pensacola trip, instead she wanted a photo from when we visited Hawaii with her grandparents, aunt and uncle.  I let her pick out the photo that she wanted and now the picture frame sits on her dresser displaying a memorable trip.

How to Make a Seashell Picture Frame | mybigfathappylife.com I love that this is a wonderful way to use those beautiful shells that you collect on the beach.  As well as, a perfect inexpensive souvenir from your trip.  In addition to the new picture frame, every trip to the beach that we have taken with S is represented in her room with a jar full of the shells that we collected.

That’s really cute! Plus it sounds like it’s not too hard to do either. If I ever get to the beach again I’ll be collecting some shells to make one. This could be a great gift!

I love the seashell picture frame that you and your daughter made. I once made a seashell wreath and is was so pretty until I heard an awful crash. It was so heavy that it had broken into pieces. Now the frame I think I could handle. Thanks!
