Easter Kids Activities

March 16, 2015 By: mybigfathappylife

Easter Kids Activities | mybigfathappylife.com

S’s second favorite holiday is Easter, second only to Christmas!  She started counting down to Easter before Christmas this year!  She loves finding eggs on Easter morning!  But she also enjoys decorating Easter eggs, picking out her Easter dress and seeing what is in her Easter basket.

Tip: I always pick up plastic eggs after Easter when Target has them on clearance.  This way I can use them for kids activities and more for cheap!

Matching Capital and Lower Case Letters

Write a capital letter near the center line of the top of the egg and the lower case letter on the bottom of the egg.  Then take all the eggs apart and mix them together.  I gave S the basket of egg halves and she had fun matching all the capital letters to lowercase letters.

Phonics Inside Easter Eggs

We have been trying to find fun ways to practice sight words.  Reviewing flash cards just is not fun!  So I wrote words on pieces of paper and stuffed them inside the plastic eggs.  Some were sight words, some were words I know she knows and others were cvc words.  When S opened the eggs she read me the word.  She seemed to enjoy this so much more than flash cards.

Math Problems Inside Easter Eggs

We did this one last year, but it was so much fun we had to try it again!  This year we used bigger math problems.  I placed written out math (addition or subtraction) problems inside the eggs.  I had S read the math problem to me and if she had troubles figuring it out in her head I offered her jelly beans to be used as counters.

Graphing Easter Eggs

We have done graphing activities before and S always enjoys them!  So for this one we placed a variety of plastic eggs in a basket and as S pulled them out she placed a jelly bean on the chart based on color.  When all the eggs had been charted, I asked S a series of questions “Which color had the most?” “Which color had the least?”  “Did any colors tie?”

Lunch Inside Easter Eggs

This was something that we did last year too.  S loved her lunch this way that we ended up having lunch this way several days.  Almost any solid food would work inside the eggs.  Please make sure to wash the plastic eggs and egg carton with soapy water prior to use.

These are great especially the math lessons in the eggs. Our 5 year old has his phonics all figured out and is focusing on multiplication!

I love the matching lower and upper case letters game! The Math game sounds fun, too. I agree that flash cards can be pretty boring. I don’t think anything you do is boring. You make learning so much fun! Sharing!

Awesome that My Little Ponies fit! I wonder if Littlest Pet Shop animals would fit? Now I am going to have to go home and try.
