I am always looking for inexpensive and easy ways to spend more time with my husband. We spend a lot of time together as a family, but the one-on-one time is sometimes far between. Don’t get me wrong I love my daughter but it’s nice to be able to carry on a conversation where we aren’t interrupted constantly. My daughter goes to bed at 8:00pm and while that is usually the time that I devote to blogging; it is also the perfect time to spend with my husband!
Why is having a Backyard Movie Date Night the perfect date idea?
- No babysitter required!
- It’s inexpensive – going out on a date can get so expensive with dinner, a movie and popcorn (I can’t go to a movie without popcorn).
- It can happen any day of the week with little advance planning!
Backyard Movie Date Night
If you already have a television outside then movie night will be so easy to set up! Otherwise, you will need to move a tv outside or snuggle together and watch from a laptop or tablet. We used comfy chairs with cushions and pillows to sit in. As the weather cools down you may want some blankets to keep you warm. String lights and candles add to the ambiance for a romantic evening. Be sure to have a small table or rolling cart to hold all your snacks and drinks.
Speaking of snacks…we had popcorn, Skittles®, M&M’s® Plain (for him) and Peanut (for me), Dr Pepper® Cherry and Brown Cow Milkshakes!

What a fun idea! And who could say no to a brown cow milkshake? I am always looking for fun and different ways to have a date. My husband runs the local movie theatre so we never go there. This would be a great compromise! Have a wonderful weekend! Visiting from Share the Wealth Sunday.

I SO love this. My hubby and I have ‘date night’ on our patio after we put the baby to bed. Usually involves wine and snacks. Love that you watch movies outdoors. Might have to try that! In my hometown there was a diner that served purple cows (grape soda). It’s still my all-time favorite thing to do when I’m home visiting my parents!
