Messy Potion Fun

March 3, 2014 By: mybigfathappylife

Imaginative Play: Messy Potion Fun | mybigfathappylife.com

We had some leftover play sand in S’s water/sand table and decided to try making messy potions.  S was very excited to start.

We used the following mix ins:

  • Crushed colored chalk
  • Black and white glitter
  • Alphabet pasta
  • Colored water
  • Flowers
  • Cupcake liners
  • Colored star ice cubes

You could also use colored rice or colored sand.

S immediately dumped the entire container of colored water.

Then she started adding in the colored chalk, glitter and pasta.

At some points she stirred the mixture together, but she mostly just sprinkled on the mix ins.

S added in the colored star ice cubes and then dumped the melted colored water into the potion.

The last thing S did was add the flowers and then she soaked the cupcake liners in water and laid them out over the potion to ‘protect’ it.

It was a very enjoyable experience for S and I really loved watching her create.
