Unique Souvenirs from Walt Disney World

March 27, 2015 By: mybigfathappylife

Unique Souvenirs from Walt Disney World; Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios | mybigfathappylife.com

I love to buy souvenirs on my many Disney trips.  But I am not into wearing a lot of Disney clothing and I don’t want my whole house to be filled with Mickey Mouse ๐Ÿ˜‰  So what do I buy?

Everyday items

My favorite souvenir that I use everyday is my Mickey Mouse coffee mug.  Every morning my mug reminds me of our wonderful trips.  I also have dish towels, a hot plate and some scarves that unless you looked closely you might not even notice they are Disney related (the dish towel under my mug is from Epcot).

Holidays Items

Every visit I pick up Christmas ornaments and when I decorate for the holidays I am reminded of each trip.  My favorite ornaments are the retro ears and the park icons.  I also loved getting a Disney cruise ship ornament on our cruise.Unique Souvenirs from Walt Disney World; Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom, and Hollywood Studios | mybigfathappylife.com
I have a Mickey head pumpkin that I put out for Halloween and it reminds me of our trips to Epcot’s International Food and Wine Festival.  My mom purchased a fabulous Easter themed deviled egg plate that we now use each year.

Beyond Mickey Souvenirs

Mr. Potato Head and Disney exclusive parts are available to purchase at Once Upon A Toy at Downtown Disney.  You pay for a box or container and get as much as you can stuff inside.  The pieces fit regular Mr. Potato Heads, so my advice is to purchase Mr. Potato Head at a department store and save valuable room in the box for all the special Disney parts.

Once a year, during our trip to Disney World I have S’s silhouette cut at the Magic Kingdom.  You can have silhouette’s cut on main street (pictured below) or beside the Christmas store at Magic Kingdom.  There are also several other locations throughout Disney World including one at Downtown Disney.  I love that the silhouette is a non-Disney souvenir that shows S’s growth through the years but is also a reminder of our trips.

At the Bead Outpost in Epcot’s World Showcase you can purchase jewelry made out of recycled park maps.  The old park maps are sent to Africa where artists create the beautiful beads by hand and then ship them back to Disney World.  You can purchase an already strung piece of jewelry or make your own from a variety of beads.  We made our own version of recycled paper beads in this post.

I love to look at Animal Kingdom in Asia and Africa for unique items that will remind me of our trip in a non-obvious way.  This past year I picked up a clay box painted with a giraffe and zebra on it.  I have the box on my bathroom vanity and use it every day for jewelry.

I am sorry, but I couldn’t stop myself from including family photos and character autographs.  After all they are some of the best souvenirs you can have!

I hope this list helps you look beyond the Mickey Mouse merchandise and find some unique souvenirs from Disney World.

Have you picked up a unique souvenir on vacation?  Tell me about it?

These are great ideas. I love to get a Christmas ornament too. Our favorite souvenirs are the smashed pennies, and their are so many penny machines at Disney!

The silhouettes are a great suggestion! My grandparents had them done of my sister and me when we were little and they hung in their house for almost 30 years. ๐Ÿ™‚

I bought a silver ring at the Mexico pavilion at World Showcase. They make them right there and you can choose what you want engraved. I wear it every minute and it is a constant reminder of our trip.
