Mod Podge Halloween Crafts

October 23, 2014 By: mybigfathappylife

I was so excited to tear open my package from Mod Podge as soon as I received it.  Of course S wanted to open everything up and start playing too.  I knew that I wanted to make some clay pumpkins that glowed in the dark…..ooooooohhhhhhh spooky 😉  When I saw the Mod Podge Molds they peaked my interest immediately, especially the letter set.  I really liked that you could use either the clay or the Mod Melts in the molds.

Glow in the Dark Clay Pumpkins

What you need:

Aluminum Foil
Mod Podge Collage Clay
FolkArt Multi-Surface Paint
Mod Podge Glow in the Dark
Leaf Stems
Mod Podge Silicon Craft Mat

Directions:

After reading the directions on the Mod Podge Collage Clay, I learned that it takes a long time to dry.  So that I didn’t have to use as much clay, I took aluminum foil and made balls for the base of the pumpkins and then covered the aluminum foil with the clay.  I preferred the pumpkin to have a smoother finish, so I used my fingers and some water to rub down the peaks.Mod Podge Halloween Craft #plaidcrafts #modpodge #decoden #whippedclay | mybigfathappylife.comAfter the pumpkins were dry, I painted them orange using the FolkArt Multi-Surface Paint which went on smooth and had great coverage.  I cut stems off of leaves to use as stems on the pumpkin.  Then I pushed the stems into the top of the pumpkins.

I painted three thin coats of the Mod Podge Glow in the Dark paint on each pumpkin, waiting in between coats for the pumpkins to dry.

I had to charge the glow in the dark paint under a light source in order for them to glow good.

Happy Halloween Sign

What you need:

Mod Melts

Mod Molds

Picture Frame

Scrapbook paper

Directions:

I loved the glitter Mod Melts they are so festive for the holidays.  I placed the melts into my glue gun, they are very long so if you want to switch colors just cut the sticks with scissors.

The Mod Melts melted so well.  I started on the inside of the letters and worked my way out.  They dried very fast.
Mod Podge Halloween Craft #plaidcrafts #modpodge #decoden #whippedclay | mybigfathappylife.comS was fascinated by the letters and asked me to make the whole alphabet for her.  She has used them to spell out sight words.

Back to the project,  I cut a piece of scrapbook paper to fit inside the frame.  I put the glass between the backer board and the scrapbook paper and put it together before attaching the letters.  I also used the Mod Melts to attach the letters to the scrapbook paper.

I love the addition of both projects to my mantel for Halloween!
