June 20, 2018 By: mybigfathappylife

This festive kid friendly red, white, and blue layered drink is perfect for the 4th of July holiday. Your child will love this 4th of July drink.

This week I am sharing ideas for having an amazing 4th of July holiday!  Check out this post for inexpensive ideas on how to have a wonderful 4th of July party!

I’m super excited to share this fun 4th of July drink for kids (or adults) is the perfect addition to your party or BBQ this year.  My daughter loves when I add little details that make her feel special.

To make this fun and festive 4th of July drink, you’ll need 3 different kid-friendly juices or drinks in red, white, and blue.  You can use any red, white, and blue drinks that you think will taste okay together, however, they each need a different sugar content.  The larger the difference in sugar content the better the layers in your drink will turn out.

For my drink, I started with cranberry juice as my red layer, a fruit punch for my blue layer, and a low sugar white cherry drink for my white layer.

To assemble your kid-friendly 4th of July drink and to get the best-layered effect, you’ll need to do a few things:

  1. Start by filling a glass about 1/4 of the way with the highest sugar content per serving drink.
  2. Next, fill the cup full of ice.
  3. Then pour the next highest sugar content drink in very slowly over the ice, so that you are using the ice to buffer the pour.  Otherwise, if you pour quickly all the colors will combine.
  4. Last, pour the drink with the least sugar content in.  Again, using the ice as a buffer as you pour slowly.
  5. Top with a festive straw!
