Halloween on the High Seas with Disney Cruise Line

It’s always fun when you can experience holidays when you’re on vacation.  Disney knows how to do holidays right whether its Walt Disney World or a Disney Cruise.  We have visited Walt Disney World several times in October and it is one of our favorites.  My mom, S and I decided to take a girls trip in 2015 over Halloween.  Celebrating Halloween on the High Seas cruise was a lot of fun!

We sailed on the Disney Magic on the 7-night Eastern Caribbean cruise with stops in St. Maarten, St. Thomas and Disney’s private island Castaway Cay.  The cruise was not overly themed except for the activities and decorations below.

Pumpkin Tree

The first night of the cruise the story of the pumpkin tree will be told in the lobby area.  You’ll get to write your family name on a seed and plant the seed that first night.  Then be sure to check the pumpkin tree every day because it will evolve over the course of your cruise.

Jack-o’-lantern and Spiderwebs

The main portholes in the lobby area and on deck four will be covered with either jack-o’-lantern faces or spiderwebs.  I loved how the shadows of the pumpkins reflected on the wall.

Halloween

For our cruise, we were actually on the ship during Halloween but otherwise, Disney will designate one day for the Mickey’s Mouse-querade Party.  On that day, characters will be dressed up in their Halloween costumes.

The Mickey’s Mouse-querade Party consists of trick-or-treating, dance party and games.  The candy available for trick-or-treating was good candy but the tables were crowded and sometimes had long lines.  The dance party was a lot of fun especially when S got to dance with Chip-n-Dale.

Halloween Movies

Throughout the cruise, Halloween themed movies were playing in the theater off and on.  Including an interactive screening of Nightmare Before Christmas with a Jack Skellington and Sally meet and greet after the movie.

There are also themed activities for tweens/teens, an adult only Halloween party and haunted stories at seas.  All in all we enjoyed our Halloween on the High Seas cruise and cannot wait to experience another holiday aboard a Disney cruise ship.  For more posts about Disney cruising click here.
