Golf Ball Painting

June 24, 2015 By: mybigfathappylife

Golf Ball Painting, kids arts and crafts | mybigfathappylife.com

Living on a golf course we find numerous golf balls in our backyard.  You would think with our house at the tee box that having golf balls flying through the area towards our house would be minimal, but we must have some really bad golfers out on the course.

With all these extra golf balls and after seeing all the marble paintings on Pinterest, I thought we would try using golf balls to make a painting.

Supplies Needed

Paint – we used poster paint that cleans up with water

Golf Balls

Paper

Painters Tape

Cardboard box or plastic tote

How To

Take a cardboard box or plastic tote and tape a piece of paper on the bottom.  Dip your golf ball in paint and then place in the cardboard box/plastic tote.  Tilt and rock the cardboard box/plastic tote back and forth watching the golf ball roll around leaving paint on the paper.

Continue using golf balls dipped in different colors of paint until the master piece is complete.  With the golf balls having a texture to them, have your child observe how the paint appears on the paper.  You could test out different surface balls (ie: smooth, rough, etc) and see what pattern appears.

The end result a beautiful, fun painting!

Have you or your child used a fun item to paint with?

This looks like a really fun craft! I remember painting with marbles when I was a kid, but golf balls leave a neat texture!

I work with 1st graders and 6th-8th graders every day as a part of a summer camp and I have been trying to come up with some creative art projects for middle school group to help my 1st grade group with. This is definitely at the top of my list now! The painting looks really cool. Thanks for posting this!

That a neat texture. My son did this with marbles when he was in kindergarten and loved it.
