On our recent trip to Universal Orlando Resort, we stayed at the Cabana Bay Beach Resort. This resort is part of the Universal Orlando Resort. It is a short walk to Universal’s Volcano Bay and a walk or bus ride to the theme parks.

The hotel has a vibrant, retro-style feel with architecture and theming inspired by the 1950s and 60s. The front of the hotel is lined with vintage vehicles and contains a bowling alley, two massive pools with a lazy river, and more.

The Rooms

Our room had a cute retro vibe with two queen beds. It has a split bathroom which I love because it allows multiple people to get ready at the same time.

There is a mini-fridge in the tv stand which is great to hold bottles of water and a coffee pot for your morning brew. Be sure to check out the retro details in the room like the stationary supplies and the bath products.

Cabana Bay Beach Resort Grounds

The hotel has a vibrant, retro-style feel with architecture and theming inspired by the 1950s and 60s. The front of the hotel is lined with vintage vehicles and contains a bowling alley, two massive pools with a lazy river, and more.

The Cabana Courtyard and Pool has a dive tower-themed water slide. You will also find the poolside Atomic Tonic bar, cabanas for rent, shaded picnic tables, and a large fire pit here.

The Lazy River Courtyard and Pool has another swimming pool that has a winding (lazy) river, sand beach, the poolside Hideaway Bar & Grill, two fire pits, and plenty of outdoor seating.

Cabana Bay Beach Resort Lobby Building

The Galaxy Bowl is the hotel’s very own bowling alley with ten lanes on the second floor of the lobby building (fees apply). You can get table service and drinks while you bowl. Reservations are required. Ace The Arcade is also located in the lobby building with lots of favorites and new modern games.

The Jack LaLanne Physical Fitness Studio is available complimentary for hotel guests.

The hotel has several different dining options onsite including Bayliner Diner which is a quick service/food court location. It offers different food stations: deli items, pizzas, burgers, salads, and desserts. Galaxy Bowl Restaurant offers a selection of American favorites including made-to-order sandwiches, hamburgers, pizzas, chicken wings, and more.

The Swizzle Lounge is located in the hotel lobby and offers refreshing made-to-order cocktails and snacks. Also located in the mid-century modern lobby is Starbucks.

The Hideaway Bar & Grill is located near the lazy river. It offers snacks and meals, along with frozen drinks, cocktails, beer, and wine. The Atomic Tonic is located near Cabana Courtyard and serves sandwiches, wraps, salads, and Doner kebabs along with cold beer, wine, specialty cocktails, and non-alcoholic beverages.

Additionally, if you are looking for room service, you can get Delizioso Pizza delivered to your room. Only available during limited hours.

Benefits of Staying at Cabana Bay Beach Resort

  • Early Park Admission to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter one hour before the theme park opens to the public.
  • Complimentary transportation to theme parks and CityWalk.  At the Cabana Bay Beach Resort, you can walk to Universal’s Volcano Bay. There is a complimentary shuttle bus if you would like to visit Universal Orlando and Islands of Adventure or you can walk along the walking trails.
  • Resort-wide charging privileges with your room key.
  • Catch some of your favorite theme park characters in the hotel lobby on Friday nights.
