Sidewalk Chalk Painting with Water Guns

Sidewalk Chalk Paint with Water Guns | mybigfathappylife.com

S was having so much fun squirting a water gun while playing in the pool that I wanted to think up of other ways to play with the water guns.  I asked S if she would like to use the water guns with chalk paint and she was very excited by the idea, so excited in fact that as soon as we woke up the next morning she started asking me if we could play with the water guns yet.

We gathered up our supplies to make the sidewalk chalk paint: cornstarch, water, food coloring and of course our water guns.  To make the sidewalk chalk paint mix equal parts cornstarch and water (I usually do ΒΌ cup cornstarch and ΒΌ cup water for each color) and stir in the food coloring until you achieve your desired color.  However, I wanted to make sure that the water guns did not get clogged so I added additional water – 3 Tablespoons.

We made a total of four colors with two staying in bowls with paint brushes and the other two we used a funnel and added to the water guns.

Note:  With time the cornstarch does separate some from the water and you may end up with the paint being thicker in the bottom of your bowl, just stir (or shake the water gun) to keep the paint mixed.

Once outside S immediately started shooting at the driveway.  At first the ground just looked wet but as the paint dried the color emerged.

S completely emptied the first water gun before grabbing for the second and then moving onto the paint in the bowls.

S finished painting and the end result was beautiful; I wish I could take my driveway inside and hang it on the wall, maybe next time I will take a piece of paper outside that she can paint too.

To clean the water guns, I rinsed all of the left over paint out and then filled with clean water and shot into the sink until the water came out clear.

I’m assuming it washes off the side walk. That would be my husbands first question to me as he is giving me that look.

I don’t have a sidewalk here, but my sister has a concrete driveway. I’ll let them try this the next time they go over there πŸ™‚
