Fact and Fiction Reading with National Geographic Kids

October 2, 2018 By: mybigfathappylife

I received this product for free from Moms Meet (momsmeet.com) to use and post my honest opinions. Compensation for this post was provided and this page may contain affiliate links.

National Geographic Kids is great for both fact-filled National Geographic Kids Almanac and Explorers Academy: The Nebula Secret (fiction).

Did you know?

  • there’s a robot hotel in Japan?
  • there are wild hamsters?

National Geographic Kids is great for both fact and fiction books!  We received two amazing books from their collection including the fact-filled National Geographic Kids Almanac 2019 and The Nebula Secret (fiction) which is the first book in their new Explorer Academy series.  Both books are perfect for middle graders (age 8-12).

My daughter loves to read and we received both books right before going on a trip, so we took the books along to read on the plane.  She devoured both books.  She was so excited to learn about some of the Cool Things for 2019 (the theme throughout the National Geographic Kids Almanac 2019) and kept asking me did you know?

The new series, Explorer Academy, encourages kids to explore their world through fiction and includes subjects ranging from geography to STEM to exploration to world cultures.  The series is inspired by the real-life adventures of real National Geographic explorers.

Explorer Academy: The Nebula Secret is more than just a thriller, it’s packed with code-breaking activities and puzzles that are intertwined with the story.  My daughter really loves mysteries so this book’s problem-solving plot kept her interested.

Enter for a Chance to Win

To celebrate the launch of Explorer Academy, one lucky family will experience a spectacular ship-based expedition, just like the students at Explorer Academy!  The grand prize is a family trip for four to Alaska’s Inside Passage from National Geographic Expeditions.  Enter the sweepstakes at exploreracademytrip.com.

We cannot wait until the next book in the Explorer Academy series is released!
