Have you heard of Rae Dunn before?  It’s pottery that has become highly sought after and can be difficult to find.  Rae Dunn kitchenware like mugs, plates, and bowls along with other home goods is very popular on social media and can be found at Home Goods and Marshalls.

I have a couple pieces of Rae Dunn and I love her large, skinny letter, one-word phrases.  I think it is the simplicity of the white pottery with the black letters that I love so much.

You probably know someone who would enjoy a set of Rae Dunn inspired Christmas ornaments or maybe you would like to add them to your Christmas tree.

How to Make Rae Dunn Inspired Christmas Ornaments

Supplies

  • plain white ornaments or clear ornaments that have been paint white
  • black craft vinyl
  • die cut machine (either a Silhouette or Cricut)
  • computer
  • weeding hook
  • transfer paper
  • ribbon
  1. You will start by creating your design in your Silhoutte program.  Using The Skinny font, which is close to the Rae Dunn font, type several different holiday words like: Peace, Joy, Believe, Holly, Love, Jolly, Hope, Wish, etc.  If you have a Cricut, I think the Jubilee font is close to Rae Dunn and have used it in previous projects. These Rae Dunn inspired Christmas ornaments are a wonderful gift to give or to make for yourself.
  2. Cut your words onto black craft vinyl.  Remove the words from the cutting mat and separate them by cutting them into individual words.  Then weed the extra vinyl using the hook tool. These Rae Dunn inspired Christmas ornaments are a wonderful gift to give or to make for yourself.
  3. Use the transfer paper to transfer the design off the backing.
  4. Using scissors, snip a little cup into the transfer paper between each letter.  This will allow your straight paper to curve onto your ornament. These Rae Dunn inspired Christmas ornaments are a wonderful gift to give or to make for yourself.
  5. Remove the transfer paper with the letters and press each letter firmly onto the ornament.  Remove transfer paper from ornament.
  6. Add a ribbon to the ornament hook if desired.

These ornaments will bring the Christmas spirit to any Christmas tree!
