Guide to Disney Cruise Line Ship: Disney Wonder

Everything that you need to know about the Disney Cruise Line Ship: Disney Wonder including dining, entertainment, and more.

Everything that you need to know about the Disney Cruise Line Ship: Disney Wonder including dining, entertainment, and more.

Updated: May 2024

The Disney Wonder was the first cruise ship I ever sailed on and it was a cruise to Alaska. Most recently we cruised on the Disney Wonder from Sydney, Australia to Honolulu, Hawaii. I have sailed more on the Disney Wonder than any other cruise ship, so I may be a little partial but it might be my favorite.

When I got back from our 9-night Disney cruise to Alaska, I was asked by several people if it was too long on a ship, if there was enough to do.  Let me tell you I could have been on the cruise ship for a month and never ran out of things to do!

If you are looking for additional information about cruising with Disney – click here.

I am sharing below everything that you need to know about sailing on the Disney Wonder:

Staterooms

Designed with families in mind, Disney Cruise Line staterooms are equipped with plenty of storage space and feature artwork/decorative touches that celebrate iconic Disney animated films. Most staterooms feature a split bathroom which allows multiple people to get ready at the same time.

Main Dining

Are you familiar with rotational dining?  It’s where every evening you rotate to one of three main dining restaurants and your servers rotate with you.  Our wonderful servers were one of the things that made our trip!  Every evening our servers already had our preferred drinks on the table waiting for us when we arrived.  Their attention to detail and catering to our every need made us feel like royalty.  If we wanted anything different like multiple desserts or to order off the children’s menu, they did not bat an eye.  S still says “I miss Harlan (our waiter)” and who wouldn’t?  From Mickey shaped ketchup to magic tricks at the table, every dinner was fun.

Triton’s

Triton’s is inspired by The Little Mermaid with its Art Deco design and has a huge mural of Ariel and her father. You will find a French-inspired menu and continental dishes here.

Animator’s Palate

Animator’s Palate offers a magical dinner centered around Disney animation and a unique show. Expect a fusion of Pacific Island foods, Asian cooking, and fresh California fare.

Tiana’s Place

Tiana’s Place is a festive New Orleans-style restaurant inspired by The Princess and the Frog. You will enjoy live jazz music and Tiana herself will appear throughout dinner. The menu here is full of Louisiana-inspired, Creole and Cajun dishes.

Quick Dining

Cabanas

Open for both Breakfast and Lunch this free-flowing (buffet) restaurant serves up delicious food at multiple diverse food stations. Breakfast includes made-to-order omelets, traditional hot breakfast dishes, muffins, fruit, and more. Lunch usually includes salads, soups, sandwiches, seafood, steak, and more. Don’t miss out on their delectable desserts.

Daisy’s de-Lites

This quick-service location offers salads, sandwiches, soups, wraps, and fresh fruit.

Pinocchio’s Pizza

Enjoy a slice of pizza at this outdoor eatery located next to Goofy’s Pool.

Pete’s Boiler Bites

Featuring classic American fare like burgers, hot dogs, and fries, Pete’s Boiler Bites is a great place to enjoy a quick meal.

Shows/Theaters

Buena Vista Theatre

During your cruise, you will be able to catch first-run films inside Buena Vista Theatre.

Walt Disney Theater – Nightly Broadway-style Shows

Each evening in the Walt Disney Theater you can enjoy a show or live entertainment. There are Disney broadway-style shows and a variety of additional entertainment which could include movie premieres, comedy acts, magicians, live music, and more.

The following Broadway-Style Shows are currently on the Disney Wonder:

  • Frozen, A Musical Spectacular – full-length retelling of Anna and Elsa’s Frozen adventure in Arendelle
  • Disney Dreams – An Enchanted Classic – a musical about the power of dreams and family, and also stars a cavalcade of Disney characters
  • “The Golden Mickey’s” – a Hollywood-style award show

Onboard Activities

One of the great things about Disney is that the cruise ships have both family activities and adult-only activities. We participated in many family activities but did sneak in a couple of adults-only ones too.

Wide World of Sports

The Wide World of Sports Deck is the ideal spot for a basketball game, ping-pong match, or enjoying breathtaking ocean views.

Shuffleboard

On deck 4, shuffleboard courts are available to play this traditional cruise game.

Characters

There were many Disney characters that had scheduled meet and greets, however, some of the characters only appeared once or twice during the whole cruise.  The most popular meet and greet times were around dinner and the evening shows.

Pools/Water Activities

The main family pool on the Disney Wonder is Goofy’s Pool.

At the AquaLab on Deck 9, Donald Duck’s nephews have concocted a series of water-logged “experiments”—pop jets, geysers, and bubblers amid a 1,800-square-foot recreation space.

For kids who want to experience a little excitement, the AquaLab offers an exciting double-looping waterslide.

Dory’s Reef

An entertaining, 400-square-foot splash deck dedicated to infants and toddlers 3 years of age and under, Dory’s Reef overflows with fountains, bubblers, pop jets, and a water curtain.

Kids’ Clubs

Oceaneer Club and Lab is for children ages 3-10 with themed spaces and activities for children to participate in. Edge is for tweens to hang out with video games, music, and movies. Vibe is where teens are free to mingle in a loft-style lounge where karaoke and dance parties rule.

Lounges/Bars

D Lounge

This family-friendly lounge is the perfect spot to sing, dance, play games, and enjoy live entertainment together.

French Quarter Lounge

Another family-friendly lounge, French Quarter Lounge, is themed after The Princess and the Frog. At night you may find live music playing. During the day, you may find games and activities being offered.

Crown & Fin Pub

Be transported to a classic British pub with dark wood and plush leather furniture. There’s even a classic telephone box photo-op to cap off your visit!

Cadillac Lounge

This nightclub has 1950s Hollywood vibes and includes live piano music most nights. With a full bar, there is a large selection of beer and cocktails available.

Azure

This trendy nightclub was inspired by the ocean with curvy walls reminiscent of the ever changing current. Azure hosts family-friendly activities during the day. However, at night, the lounge transforms with music and dancing.

Adult-Only Areas/Activities

Cove Cafe

Treat yourself to coffee, cocktails, and baked goods at Cove Café, an adults-only lounge. While the drinks are an additional fee, it is the perfect place to relax and read a book or magazine.

Everything that you need to know about the Disney Cruise Line Ship: Disney Wonder including dining, entertainment, and more.

Quiet Cove Pool

This adults-only refuge allows you to lounge in a teak deck chair and take a much-deserved break. There are also 2 whirlpool spas.

Palo Steakhouse

With a warm, tranquil atmosphere and spectacular ocean views, Palo Steakhouse offers a scrumptious selection of premium steaks and exquisite Italian dishes. The amazing brunch is also very popular at Palo Steakhouse and requires advance reservations. This restaurant requires a fee.

Senses Spa and Fitness

A nature-inspired oasis, Senses Spa offers beauty treatments and a relaxing Rainforest complete with heated lounges, fountains, an aromatherapy steam room, a dry sauna, and a calming pool.

I do love Disney Cruises. Like at the parks, the cruise ship takes allergies seriously. I was incredibly impressed how the wait staff and all chefs were very cautious with my son’s allergies. If you have any food sensitivity or special diet, I think Disney cruises and parks are the way to go.

    • mybigfathappylife says

      July 30, 2014 at 10:21 am

That’s so good to hear Caryn! We don’t have allergies in our family, but I’ve always heard they go above and beyond!
