Food on a Disney Cruise

February 4, 2016 By: mybigfathappylife

Food on a Disney Cruise; Disney Cruise Line | mybigfathappylife.com

I can say one thing: I am never hungry on a Disney Cruise!  There is so much food and with very few exceptions it is all included in the cost of your cruise.  We have found the food on our Disney Cruises to be really good and enjoyed all of our meals.  If there was a dish we did not like it was because of personal preference and not because of the preparation.  Remember that the food on the cruise is all you can eat, if you order or select something you do not like, don’t eat it and order something else.  Below is an overview of different food offerings available on Disney cruises.

Let me help you plan your magical Disney vacation with free, expert advice!  Contact me today for a free, no obligation quote by email: p.anderson@magicalvacationplanner.com or by filling out this quote form for Disney Cruise Line.

Buffets

We ate mostly at the buffet for breakfast and lunch.  Its the quick solution with a large variety of food and every day is a different theme!  Breakfast may include made-to-order omelets, scrambled eggs, sausages, hash browns, Mickey-shaped waffles, muffins, fruit, and cereal.  Lunch could include scrumptious salads, soups, burgers, sandwiches, steak, chicken, seafood and pizza.  Plus there is always dessert, sodas, coffee and tea.

Rotational Dining

Disney offers rotational dining, where you rotate between the three restaurants on the ship for dinner, however your servers remain the same (they rotate with you).  Your servers will get to know you and may even have your usual drink waiting for you when you arrive to dinner.  Each evening, your meal will consist of 4 courses along with a bread service: appetizer, soup or salad, entrée and dessert.

Remember that all the restaurants and buffets are all you can eat.  You can order whatever you want from the menus, I have ordered two appetizers or two desserts and even off the kids menu.  In addition, we ordered an extra entree to split to try something that we were not sure of.  If you do not like your food, let your server know they will bring you something else to eat.  Also if you do not see a Mickey Ice Cream Bar on the kids menu, you can still order it (they have plenty)!

Quick Service/Counter Service

Up on the open decks near the pools are a variety of quick service or counter service food choices with everything from pizza to hot dogs to hamburgers to fish sandwiches.  However, also available at Goofy’s Galley (Wonder), Daisy De-Lites (Magic) and Fillmore’s Favorites (Dream and Fantasy) are salads, wraps, panini, sandwiches and fresh cut fruit.

Cream Cheese Pretzels

Cream cheese filled pretzels and salted pretzels are available at Pinocchio Pizza on Disney Wonder.  If you are cruising on one of the other ships I would check at their pizza counter.  Cream cheese pretzels are one of those snacks we always purchase at Walt Disney World and to be able to get them for free on the ship was an added bonus.  So delicious!

Pirate After Party Buffet

After the Pirates In the Caribbean Party is an after party buffet which is located at the buffet restaurant on each ship.  The buffet is not open long, so be sure to stop by right after the show.  There is a nice selection of food and do not miss out on the crepes they are delicious!

Character Breakfast

If you’re on a 7 night cruise or longer on the Disney Wonder, you MAY have a Character Breakfast.  You will need to obtain tickets to the breakfast.  On embarkment day, review the navigator you receive upon check-in.  If there will be a character breakfast on your cruise, the navigator will tell you where to pick up tickets.  On our first cruise (May 2014), we got photos and autographs with the fab 5 characters, including Mickey and Minnie!  However on our latest cruise (November 2015), we had Disney Junior characters.

Somehow I managed to get no photos of our food only photos of the characters!

Adult Only Restaurants

Palo and/or Remy (depending on the cruise ship) are the adult only restaurants.  While Palo serves Italian fine dining, Remy offers French cuisine.  Both restaurants are an additional charge, reservations can be made before sailing and a strict dress code must be followed.

Room Service

Even room service is included in the cost of your cruise (remember to tip).  We have ordered breakfast from room service, so that we could eat while getting ready for an early excursion.  I thought the quality of the room service food was not nearly as good as the restaurants and buffets aboard.

Free Soda, Coffee and Tea

Soda, coffee and tea are available for free 24 hours a day on the ninth deck of the Wonder and Magic and the eleventh deck of the Dream and Fantasy.  You can also get free soda, coffee and tea at the sit down restaurants and the buffets.
