From the moment I first brought my dog home, Sugar Ray has been extremely social. We walk the neighborhood every evening and he greets all his friends, both human and 4-legged, to catch up on the daily gossip. He enjoys hanging out with his friends and even having sleep overs.
Sugar Ray has been an excellent big brother since we brought S home. For S it was love at first sight and they are the best of buds. S will stand up for Sugar Ray in a heart beat.
In Baton Rouge, the place to be seen is at the annual Mystic Krewe of Mutts, a Mardi Gras Pet Parade. Every year, we head to downtown Baton Rouge with Sugar Ray to enjoy the throws of dog treats and beads. Many of the dogs dress up in costumes based on the theme for each year. It is an extremely popular event that continues to grow each year.
When I first got Sugar Ray I used to go to a specialty pet store to pick up his food, treats and toys, but now when I run errands I only make one stop at Target. At Target, I can cross all the items off my shopping list whether it’s grocery or dog food in one convenient stop and still get exactly what I need.
Target makes it easy to stock up on Sugar Ray’s food of choice – IAMS dry dog food. IAMS offers a variety of formulas based on your pets’ different needs with food available for any diet type. We use the mini-chunk formula to help with digestion and have found it to be the perfect fit for him and us.
When you shop at Target, do you use the Cartwheel App? If you have not used it before I highly recommend it. I have saved about $500 so far by using the app! With the Cartwheel App you add items that you are going to purchase that there is a Cartwheel for. At the cash register, the cashier will scan your Cartwheel App and you watch the savings come off.

There are two easy ways to find out if an item has a Cartwheel – search by typing in the item you are looking for or while at the store scan the barcode of the item. I usually get a couple bags of IAMS dry dog food when it is on sale or when there is a Cartwheel.
Sugar Ray is now 10 years old and still acts like a puppy from time to time. Our family would not have been complete without him a part of it.

Yes, not everything is on the app and items mostly switch out weekly, but it’s a great tool to save money.
I use to have a dog. I really miss having one but since the family and I are always on the go somewhere I felt if we get a dog it will be lonely all the time. So we opted for fish. Cartwheel is an awesome app!! Love Target!
Kennel costs so expensive when we travel! Even with a dog, S is always asking for fish, a bunny, a cat, etc!
He is so cute! I am such a dog lover- Everyone said after we had a baby that we wouldn’t care about the dog anymore and that is BS- I still love our pup just as much as before , it’s amazing o see how much she loves out daughter!
There is definitely a bond between my daughter and Sugar Ray. I could not have asked for a better dog. I totally agree with you I’ve heard of so many people getting rid of their dogs when they have kids and I could never have done that.
