The Perfect Half-Day Hike: Diana’s Baths

October 27, 2025 By: mybigfathappylife

Everything you need to know about visiting Diana’s Baths in North Conway, New Hampshire.

The Perfect Half-Day Hike: Diana’s Baths

If you’re looking for a short, family-friendly hike with a big scenic payoff, Diana’s Baths in North Conway, New Hampshire, is the perfect spot to explore. Nestled in the foothills of the White Mountains, this enchanting natural attraction features a series of small cascading waterfalls, crystal-clear pools, and smooth granite ledges. It is ideal for wading, relaxing, or snapping Instagram-worthy photos. This stop was one of my daughter’s favorites from our East Coast road trip.

A short, easy 0.6-mile walk on a wide, well-maintained trail winds through a quiet forest to the waterfall. It’s accessible for hikers of all levels – including children and pets (on leash). In just 10–15 minutes, you’ll arrive at the base of the falls where the sights and sounds of rushing water instantly invite you in.

The granite rocks are naturally smoothed by centuries of flowing water, creating small pools and slides where visitors can dip their toes, splash around, or just sit and enjoy the tranquil surroundings. My daughter’s favorite activity was jumping from rock to rock up the cascading waterfall.

During spring and early summer, snowmelt makes for a dramatic flow, while late summer brings lower water levels but better swimming conditions. It’s also a beautiful spot in the fall, framed by vibrant foliage.

Tips for Visiting

  • Bring water shoes or sandals – The rocks can be slippery and uneven. If planning on jumping from rock to rock and climbing, I highly recommend tennis shoes with a good grip. And be very careful so you do not slip and fall.
  • Go early – It’s a popular spot in summer and can get crowded by midday, especially on the weekends.
  • Wear sunscreen and bring water – The falls are in the sun, so I highly recommend wearing sunscreen and bringing plenty of water.
  • Pack a snack or picnic – There are plenty of flat rocks perfect for lounging.
  • No restrooms on site – Plan accordingly (nearest facilities are at the trailhead parking lot).
  • Pay at the trailhead – Diana’s Baths requires a daily pass for parking, which can be paid at the self-serve kiosk or honor system drop box in the parking lot. This pass is good for the entire day and is valid at other national forest sites within the White Mountain National Forest.
