Christmas Traditions: Elf on the Shelf Breakfast

Our Elf on the Shelf named Candle (yes S named her) arrives for her first visit of the year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.  She always makes breakfast for us on her arrival day.

What is Elf on the Shelf?

Are you familiar with Elf on the Shelf?  The elf is a scout sent from the North Pole to help Santa Claus.  The elf flies home each night to tell Santa Clause about the family’s day.  However, each morning, the elf returns to the family in a different spot than the day before.  S loves to wake up each morning and see where Candle is.

Elf on the Shelf Breakfast

For our Elf on the Shelf breakfast, we have snow covered donuts and glacier hot cocoa.

Candle leaves us pancake batter, so that we can make warm pancakes with maple syrup.

I love S’s face when she sees the breakfast on the table.

Candle also brings a letter and present for S, usually something like a puzzle or game.

After breakfast we read the Elf on the Shelf book together (pardon the hot chocolate/candy cane face).

Then starts the fun of finding Candle each morning and seeing what kind of trouble she has gotten into.

Does your house get visited by an Elf on the Shelf?

We have a ton of friends who have an Elf on the Shelf. My little guy is still too little. I don’t know if I would be creative enough.

Next week I am going to post a list of easy ideas. I really try not to make it complicated or messy!

We still haven’t gotten into Elf on a Shelf since Britton’s a tad too little this year. I bet it is SO much fun for your daughter when she comes down each morning–this is the stuff that Christmas memories are made of! 🙂

Yes, she cannot wait for Candle to show up this year. S asked if she could come early this year because we were going to be out of town for a week in December.

We will be doing Elf on the Shelf for the first time this year. I didn’t know when I should bring our elf out but I think I’ll do it on Thanksgiving. Seems like the elf will be a lot of work but I know my girls would love it. Looks like S really enjoys her elf.

It’s not too bad moving the elf. I try to do easy, non-messy ideas – I’ll have a post next week 🙂 Your girls will enjoy finding their elf.

My children are grown but my grandchildren enjoy Elf on the Shelf. They call theirs, Buddy. Buddy brings many family memories to their home. I almost wish my husband and I had our own Elf.

I have seen several couples do Elf on the Shelf and they alternate who hides him. That would be fun!

We haven’t started Elf on the Shelf (daughter is 2), but I think it’s definitely a tradition that we’ll begin next year! I’ve seen such creativity from other moms who participate.
