Girls That Make Monthly Box

July 5, 2018 By: mybigfathappylife

I received a complimentary Girls That Make Box for review.  As always, all opinions are my own.

I am always looking for ways for my daughter to learn in a fun way, especially during the summer to keep her mind busy.  The Girls That Make box is a STEM orientated wearable project delivered to your door each month.  You will learn how to build, program, and sew to create your own wearable technology.

The project that we received was a sparkley bracelet (light up bracelet).  We started by understanding how the battery and microcontroller can controller the lights.  Then my daughter assembled the inside (light up part of the bracelet).    Looking for kids activities that focus on STEM? The Girls That Make subscription box is a fun way to expose kids to STEM while making wearable projects.

She sewed with special thread all the lights and microcontroller/battery to a piece of felt.  The piece of felt got placed inside the plastic bracelet and then it was time for the moment of truth…would it work?  Yes and the bracelet is so beautiful!

While the coding was already done for this project.  Coding was explained and scenarios were given to help learn how to change the coding to get different results.  Future boxes will help you learn how to code.

This was a fun project for my daughter (8) to do with a little bit of assistance from me.  Learning is so much more fun when it is hands on!

Girls That Make boxes are not just for kids, but for anyone with an interest in building wearable technology!
