7 Things to do Aboard on a Port Day – Disney Cruise Line

7 Things to do Aboard a Disney Cruise Ship during a port day | mybigfathappylife.com
While most of the fun about taking a cruise is visiting the many different ports of call sometimes you may want to stay onboard.  But what is there to do onboard a Disney Cruise ship during a port day?  On our recent cruise to the Caribbean, we choose not to take an excursion in Jamaica.  Our cruise ship docked in Falmouth, which is a newer port/dock with a marketplace within a secure area but to go outside the area you have to be on an excursion or take one of their approved taxis.   My husband and I had previously visited Jamaica plus there were not any excursions that S was old enough to participate in that interested us, therefore we decided to visit the marketplace and stay aboard the ship.  So what did we do all day?

Let me help you plan your magical Disney vacation with free, expert advice!  Contact me today for a free, no obligation quote by email: p.anderson@magicalvacationplanner.com or by filling out this quote form for Disney Cruise Line.

Here are 7 ways to enjoy a day aboard a Disney cruise ship:

1. Take a dip in the pool or a ride down the water slide

With the majority of guests getting off the ship on port days, the pool areas and water slides are less crowded which makes it a perfect pool day.

2. Watch a movie

Disney cruise ships run first run movies, so as soon as a Disney movie is released in the theater it is available to watch on the ships.  Perfect way to spend a couple hours in the afternoon.

3. Go to the gym or take a walk/run on the track

The same as with the pools, the gym will be less busy.  The walking track is a great way to burn off calories while getting a great view of the island.

4. Visit the Spa

Many times there are deals for the spa on port days because of many guests getting off the ship.  Be sure to look in the navigator for any offers.

5. Board Games

Spend time together with friends and family playing board games which are available in the lounge (check your navigator to verify location).

6. Relax

It is nice to have a day when you are not rushing off and you can take your time.

7. Check out the area around the port

In Jamaica, there was a nice marketplace with local artists/craftsman along with shops.  You may want to get off the ship and just explore the area right there.

Always wanted to go on a Disney cruise but at my age it may be too much. Maybe I will send my babes. Many thanks for linking up at Share the Wealth Sunday!

Hi, I was wondering how long it usually takes to get off the ship on port days (let’s say we are supposed to be in Key West by noon)? Can you just basically walk off?

You can walk off once the ship is cleared by the local port, but you do have to be scanned off the ship so that Disney knows that you are no longer on the ship. Sometimes the line can be a little long, but it moves fast.
