It doesn’t matter if you are sharing big moments with your kids or small moments as long as you are spending time together creating smiles and memories. Many times your child will remember and treasure those little moments of quality time the most. Storytime
S loves to read and can read chapter books by herself. However, she still likes to snuggle up next to me with a snack, like Goldfish, and listen to me read. Then we can discuss the book and our thoughts on it.
Go on a Walk/Bike Ride
With the weather cooling off it’s the perfect time to spend quality time together on a walk or bike ride. It’s the perfect time to talk about what his/her’s favorite part of school was today, what they want to do over the weekend, what superpower would they what to have, etc.
Arts and Crafts
There are so many different arts and crafts options including coloring in a coloring book, painting a picture, crocheting, making a scene out of play-dough, or more.
Play a Board Game/Put Together a Puzzle
Playing a board game and putting together puzzles always puts smiles on our faces! They are fun with lots of learning opportunity (shhh don’t tell the kids). Both board games and puzzles encourage communicating verbally, sharing and enjoying interaction with others. Board games can foster the ability to focus and lengthen your child’s attention span, along with teaching them how to take turns.
Cook Dinner Together
This is one of my favorite ways to spend time with S. We can have fun in the kitchen, while she learns how to cook, how to read directions, real life math and problem solve.
I don’t know about your child, but S is always hungry in the afternoon. Goldfish is her go to snack and I love that they are always baked with 100% real cheese!
